IEEE Canada Awards presented at the occassion of
the CCECE’2002 Conference held on 13 May 2002 at
the Fort Garry Hotel in Winnipeg, MB
|

|
The McNaughton Medal is
IEEE Canada’s Highest Merit Award.
This year the medal is presented to:
Dr. Prakash Bhartia
Director General, Defence Research Establishement
(DREO), Ottawa.
“In recognition of exceptional creativity, innovation and
leadership in the research and development of microwave
and millimeter wave transmision lines, devices, components,
antennas and systems”.

Maier Blostein received the Fessenden Medal “In recognition of visionary
and inspirational leadership in university-based telecommunications
rersearch.”

Ted Sargent (left) makes his acceptance speech for his
Outstanding Engineer Award which he
received “For groundbreaking research in applying new phenomena and
materials from nanotechnology towards transforming fibreoptic
communications systems into agile optical networks”. Mo El-Hawary
(centre) and Abdel Sebak (right) look on.

John E. Quaicoe (extreme right) receives the
Outstanding Engineering Educator award from Mo El-Hawary
(center) and Rob Menzies (left).
The inscription on the award reads:
“Contributions to engineering education, commitment to student learning
and growth, and sustained accomplishments as an effective and caring
educator”.

Ray Findlay is congratulated by Wallace S. Read (left to right)
and Abdel Sebak on receiving the Wallace S. Read Service Award. Mo El
Hawary is on the extreme right.
Dr. Findlay received the award “For
sustained outstanding contributions to IEEE Canada”.

Eric Holdrinet (adroit) a reçu le Prix d’Excellence du Conseil de l’Est
du Canada (renomme Prix Jean Jacques Archambault): “Pour le leadership
professionnel et le support apporté aux membres de l’IEEE de l’Est du
Canadien, la section de Montréal et la Région 7”.

Neale Partington received the Ted Glass Western Canada Council
Merit Award “For leadership and
continuing service to the IEEE and the South Saskatchewan Section in
establishing the first Bulletin Board for the Section”.
